Elkhart & Western Railroad Co. (EWR)

The Elkhart & Western Railroad Co. (EWR) is a rail line running from Elkhart to Mishawaka, Indiana, a distance of approximately 9 miles. The EWR's trackage was acquired in 1996 from Conrail (CR), later Norfolk Southern Railway (NS), by the Michigan Southern Railroad (MSO). The EWR has been recently separated from the MSO for marketing and administrative reasons. The line had formerly been operated as the Elkhart & Western Division of the Michigan Southern Railroad.
