Sydney, Australia - The Sydney Electric Train Society Inc. (SETS) was established in 1991 when it was decided that something had to be done to ensure Sydney's vintage single-decker suburban & interurban electric trains were preserved for the benefit of present and future generations. The Society was instrumental in ensuring that a good selection of single-deck electric rolling stock was retained for future restoration to operable condition. We became an incorporated association in 1993. The Society has two prime objectives..... To preserve by restoration, maintenance, operation and display, examples of Sydney's heritage and historic electric trains, and To generate interest in Sydney's rail heritage, particularly Sydney's electric railway system.
