Boothbay, ME - Steam School

The Boothbay Railway Village occasionally conducts a two-day course, generally on the third weekend in October, on the operation and theory of the coal-fired steam locomotive. Included in this unique experience is the opportunity to participate in hands-on training with the Museum's vintage locomotives under the supervision of qualified Museum staff.

The course is open to both novices and those who already have some experience or knowledge of steam locomotives.

The class format is a one-day classroom session of theory and understanding, followed by a day of actual locomotive operation. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for those interested in steam engines and steam railroading.
