Transportation Research Corporation designs and manufactures pumps and electronics for railroad locomotives.
Our experience with locomotives began in the mid-1980s, when we became aware of the life and maintenance problems associated with DC motor fuel pumps on diesel locomotives. Our first pump, the Enermorphics brushless DC fuel pump, was sold from the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s. In 1995 the Enermorphics pumps were phased out in favor of a new TRC designed gear pump, using the same electronic inverter package. This pump was produced by TRC for two years. The technology was subsequently licensed to another firm and later sold. At the time of sale in 2000 it had become the fuel pump of choice for new railroad locomotives.
