Mallets in the Tall Timber
A web page dedicated to the history of the Baldwin logging Mallet. Articulated locomotives. That description brings to the minds of most American rail fans
machines like Union Pacific's Big Boys, or the Y6s of the Norfolk & Western. However, another
interesting aspect of the history of articulated locomotives in America are the Baldwin Logging Mallets, of
which forty-four were built between 1909 and 1937.

Personal Safety Suggestions
Rannoch's Personal Safety Suggestions are aimed at making activities on and around railroads safe for the individual volunteer, trainee or railfan. These guidelines are written with European steam railways in mind, but almost all of them are equally applicable to railways in the rest of the world, especially those operating steam trains.

Richard Leonard's Steam Locomotive Archive
The 1950s were the last decade during which steam locomotives were used in regular main line service on North American railroads. They were also the decade during which I reached my teen years, and began to photograph these locomotives wherever and whenever I could. For many years my archive of steam photos lay hidden in the dark confines of storage boxes and basement shelves. But now, thanks to the Internet, my steam photography in the 1950s and after is available to steam fans all over the world.
