California - Tehachapi, Tehachapi RailCam ^Pop ^Hot!
Tehachapi, CA - Located South of Bakersfield, California, Tehachapi is the busiest single tracked mainline in North America. Here the tracks are shared with trains from the Union Pacific Railroad and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

The camera only activates when a train is within range. After a picture is snapped the images are uploaded to the main server within two minutes. The images will remain until another train passes and the images are updated. The system resets near midnight. While the images are still photos, you have the advantage of always being able to see a train on this site. You can also review previous photos taken earlier in the day. This is one of the best Railcams around.

Norway, Finse - BT Panorama ^Pop ^Hot!
Finse, Norway - 1222 meters above sea level, Finse is the highest station on the Bergensbanen railroad. The picture is updated every 15 minutes during the day and every 2 hours during the night.

Nice view of the station area, trains are clearly visible. The area is often covered in snow. A slow refresh means this Railcam isn't good for virtual train watching.

This truly incredible cam has a view from the cab of a locomotive! Always wanted to travel the railroads of Switzerland with its dense track layout and service as well as it's great Alpine views? Well now you can through the Swiss locomotive rail cam.

A digital camera is mounted in the cab of an electric locomotive. This camera takes "snapshots" every so often and then sends them via a wireless data link back to this web site. The views, which are updated several times a day, show the track ahead as well as other passing trains, stations, the shops where the locomotive is maintained and those Alpine views. A nice sharp image, excellent views with a new snapshot roughly every 15 minutes or so.

Washington - Olympia, Centennial Rail Cam ^Pop ^Hot! ^{Ed Pick}
Lacey (Olympia), WA - Centennial Station is the Amtrak stop for Olympia and Lacey Washington. The station is located on the active Cascades corridor between Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon and is serviced by 8 Amtrak trains daily. The double track line is owned by Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) and can host up to 20 freight trains per day. In addition, Union Pacific (UP) has trackage rights on the line and runs an additional 10 to 20 freight trains per day. The totals from the 3 railroads can be as many as 40-50 trains per day.

With a very active double track mainline and Railcam shots for the last 4 trains to pass in each direction, this camera gives an excellent view of BNSF and UP in the Pacific Northwest. Now if they would only install streaming video...

Colorado - Tiny Town, Live Steam Railway & Village ^Hot!
Tiny Town, C0 - Tiny town was created at the site of the Denver-Leadville stagecoach stop in a scenic mountain canyon southwest of Denver in 1915. That's when moving-company owner George Turner began constructing one-sixth-sized buildings with a turn-of-the-century flavor to delight his young daughter. In 1920 the town was opened to the public.

AT Vienna, Franz-Josefs-Kai. The camera can be repositioned and zoomed, and the view is updated in real time, giving a semi-moving picture. The best shot is of the Franz-Josefs-Kai where tram routes 1 and 2 run. Select Saint Ruprecht's Church as a start point and then move downwards to find the tram track. A still photo can be captured.

Texas - College Station, TransLink® rail monitoring project ^Hot!
Wellborn, TX - The TransLink® rail monitoring project is located in the Wellborn Road Corridor, which is a north-south arterial in College Station that bisects the Texas A&M University campus. Corridor traffic volume ranges from 10 to 25 ADT and can be extremely heavy due to its proximity to the university’s sports and recreational centers. Adjacent to Wellborn Road lies the Union Pacific Railroad’s Fort Worth Subdivision mainline. A passing siding is located at the northern end of the corridor. The line accommodates 15 to 20 trains daily and connects Houston, Galveston and the petrochemical gulf coast with Fort Worth and points north.
