Cardinal
(Chicago-Washington) The Cardinal visits the marvelous historic attractions of our nation's capital; travels to the door of two of the most famous resorts in the East, the Greenbrier and the Homestead; carries you through the wild, wonderful scenic beauty of West Virginia; the beautiful riverfront city of Cincinnati; and finishes its trip in downtown Chicago. But the Cardinal is more -- one of the most spectacular train rides in America, through the overwhelming beauty of Virginia's Blue Ridge and along the wild white water of West Virginia's New River Gorge, where you'll be treated to marvelous scenery you can see only from the Cardinal. During the summer months, a U.S. Forest Ranger boards your train to provide informative commentary about the sights along the way.

Carolinian & Piedmont
(New York-Raleigh-Charlotte) You've heard the old song: "Nothin' could be finer than to be in Carolina...." Well, the Carolinian and the Piedmont prove it's true. But don't limit yourself to the mornin', because you'll find North Carolina is a vacationer's delight 24 hours a day -- blessed with a mild climate and home to some of the best-known (and loved/hated!) golf courses in the world. The Piedmont is Carolina born and bred. It travels between the state's capital in Raleigh and its commercial center in Charlotte, with stops in Greensboro and High Point along the way. In fact, this train -- painted in the colors of the state flag -- even looks like Carolina. It's a great way to get around the Tar Heel state at your convenience.

City of New Orleans
(Chicago-New Orleans) The City of New Orleans is Amtrak's festival on wheels! Must be something about the places it can take you: the raucous Dixieland and Zydeco clubs of New Orleans - Memphis, Tennessee, the home of Beale Street blues and Sun Records... Chicago's cool jazz scene and hot new comedy clubs. There's also the Great American Pyramid and Festival Island just north of Memphis (you'll see them from the train). Then, of course, there's the City of New Orleans train itself; spacious, bi-level Superliner cars with First Class sleeping accommodations, comfortable Coach seating and a Sightseer Lounge with panoramic windows for sweeping views of the mighty Mississippi - and first-run movies at night.
