Duluth, South Shore, and Atlantic Railway
The Duluth, South Shore, and Atlantic (DSS&A) was not a giant among American or Canadian railways. Its routes and mileage were modest, its profits marginal, and its history short. However, for a brief period it was the railway that served almost the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan, including the booming copper and iron mining regions. It stretched from Duluth, Minnesota, through Wisconsin, to Sault St. Marie, Michigan, with branches running to Calumet and to St. Ignace.

Dunderberg Spiral Railway
The Dunderberg Spiral Railway was a pleasure railroad partially constructed in 1890-1891 on a mountain near Jones Point, Rockland County, New York. It was never finished. The first part of the ride would have taken the cars up two inclined planes to the summit 900 feet above the Hudson River, where visitors could disembark to enjoy the scenery. Then the cars would have coasted by gravity down a nine-mile scenic railway, making two spirals and three switchbacks. It would have been to this day the biggest roller coaster ever constructed.

East Broad Top Railroad
The East Broad Top Railroad is a shortline built from the 1872 to 1874. The East Broad Top operated as a shortline on narrow gauge trackage to haul coal from Broad Top Mountain to the PRR at Mt. Union. When the EBT was closed and sold to a salvage company in 1956, it was the last original narrow gauge railroad east of the Rockies. The railroad lay dormant until 1960 when the owner was asked to operate a train for Orbisonia's Bicentennial celebration. Since then, five miles of the original trackage has been operated during the summer months.
