Sargan Eight - Narrow Gauge Railroad Tour
There was once a narrow gauge train, affectionately known as the Cira. It used to cut its path through astonishing landscapes of Serbia and Bosnia on its way from Belgrade to Sarajevo.
In 1999, people decided to reconstruct the most attractive part of the former narrow gauge railway. They have done a great job. They re-laid the tracks; they renovated or rebuilt all the railway stations of the Sargan Eight.

The Härtsfeld-Museumsbahn
The ancient Härtsfeldbahn leading from Aalen via Neresheim to Dillingen/Donau (in bavaria) was frequently used for weekend trips due to the very nice landscape. But in the year 1972 the service was stopped and the line was de-mounted. The diesel rail-cars and their trailers were sold to other lines, the steam-locomotive 12 was placed on a playing ground and steam-locomotive 11 was left at Neresheim as a memorial. Normally this would be the end of the history of a branch line.
After long preparative work and a 5 years lasting project approval procedure the first step to reconstruct the first 3 kilometers was taken on Mai 16, 1996. Exactly to the 100th birtday of the Härtsfeldbahn, on October 20, 2001, the official service started on the line.
The impossible has been made possible. Today the trains run on the Härtsfeld like 50 or 100 years ago, but only some days in the year.
