Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway
The railway was originally built as a branch line of the Furness Railway in 1869, to establish a tourist link with the lake steamers on Windermere. That popular - and unique - feature of our railway is still maintained. Originally carrying passengers and freight from Ulverston to Lakeside, the only part now remaining is the 3½ mile section from Haverthwaite through Newby Bridge to the terminus at Lakeside.

Peak Rail
n 1968 the railway between Matlock and Buxton through the Peak National Park was closed and lifted. This was once part of the Midland Railway's line between
Manchester Central and London St.Pancras. In 1975 a group of enthusiasts formed the Peak Railway Society with the aim of re-opening the line. Initially a Steam Centre was opened at Buxton, attention later moved to the southern end of the line, where undergrowth was hacked away and rails reinstated. Services commenced between Matlock and Darley Dale in 1991. The northern extension to the site of the former Rowsley locomotive depot saw its first passenger trains in 1997, where further facilities are currently being developed.

Pendon Indoor Model Village and Railways
At Pendon we aim to recapture, in detailed and colourful miniature, scenes showing the
beauty of the English countryside as it used to be in the years around 1930. Realistically modelled cottages, farms, fields and lanes recall the peaceful country ways of that period. Cavalcades of trains, accurately represented, provide a fascinating record of the railways of the time. Pendon is being created entirely by volunteer modellers who work to the most exacting standards.

Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust
In 1994, the company owning locomotives 80080 and
80098, and the group owning Princess Margeret Rose,
decided that there was great merit in pooling their
combined assets into one organisation for the long term
benefit of the locomotives. As such the Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust was
born, set up with charitable status and with the aim of
preservation, restoration, operation and display of
locomotives and in particular the Princess Royal Class.
