Porthmadog to Caernarfon, North Wales - Welcome to the official website of the Welsh Highland Railway. This is where you can find out all about the project to rebuild and operate the Welsh Highland Railway, a line running through the mountains of Wales which closed in the 1930s. Approval has been granted to rebuild the whole line. The first sections of the line, from Porthmadog to Pen-y-Mount, and from Caernarfon to Rhyd Ddu are now open, and work is now underway on the missing link to join them together!

Welsh Highland Railway Society
Welcome to the official website of Cymdeithas Rheilffordd Eryri, the Welsh Highland Railway Society. The Society exists to give support for the Welsh Highland Railway, including voluntary work for the Railway and financial support for projects on the Railway.
The website caters both for members of the Society and for those with an interest who might wish to join the Society.
The Society is the official supporters' body for the project to rebuild, maintain and operate the Welsh Highland Railway, a narrow gauge line across the mountains of North Wales that closed in the 1930s. The project is led by the Ffestiniog Railway. WHRS members are playing a leading part in the rebuilding and operation of the Railway.

West Clare, Ireland - West Clare Railway has been restored to provide a fun day out for families and school tours.
The importance, magnitude and impact of the birth of the West Clare Railway on the local transport system of County Clare cannot be measured. The story has been well documented over the years, in book and song. However, it is extraordinary that it was not until the mid 1990’s that a local committee attempted to revive this treasured historical railway.
