Minnesota - Como-Harriet Streetcar Line (MTM)
Lakes Harriet, MN - On the shores of Lake Harriet the streetcars ride again. Three restored streetcars ply part of the original right of way that once stretched from Stillwater all the way to Lake Minnetonka. Streetcar No. 1300 was built in St. Paul and served the city faithfully for decades. No. 265, also built in St. Paul, spent its working life in Duluth. PCC No. 322 is a late-model Twin Cities car just recently returned to service. Together, the three give young and old alike an experience that has vanished from the American way of life.

Minnesota - Lake Superior Railroad Museum & North Shore Scenic Railroad
Duluth, MN - Housed in Duluth, Minnesota's Historic Union Depot, the Lake Superior Railroad Museum works in conjunction with the North Shore Scenic Railroad to offer one of the richest historic experiences in railroading available anywhere.

The beautiful French Chateauesque building was completed in 1892 and was a bustling hub of activity for much of the 20th century. In 1910, seven railroads dispatched over 50 trains a day from Duluth.

Our collection of railroad equipment is the finest in the midwest, featuring steam, diesel and electric locomotives, passenger cars, freight cars, dining cars and specialty equipment used by logging and mining industries.

Along with the trains on display inside the museum is Depot Square, a 3/4 scale recreation of Duluth's downtown in 1910. It is claimed that this area had more millionaires per capita than any state in the nation at the turn of the century.

Minnesota - Milwuakee Road 261 Home Page
Minneapolis, MN - Milwuakee Road 261 Mainline excursions. Railroading Heritage of Midwest America (RHMA) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote public understanding of the history of railroading in the Midwest. RHMA accomplishes this goal by preserving, restoring, operating and interpreting historic locomotives and rail cars. RHMA got its start in 1991 as the “Friends of the 261 Inc.” a volunteer group that supported the operation of Milwaukee Road 261, a steam locomotive based in Minneapolis, Minn. In 1997 the “Friends” was incorporated as “Railroading Heritage of Midwest America” doing business as the “Friends.”

RHMA owns a fleet of passenger cars, with most of them painted in Milwaukee Road maroon and orange passenger train colors which traveled with the 261. These include the last operating Milwaukee Road “Skytop” glass backed observation car, the “Cedar Rapids” and a Milwaukee Road full-length Super Dome car. RHMA cars are compatible with Amtrak equipment and can operate on any Amtrak train.

At its shop in Minneapolis, RHMA workers and volunteers overhaul cars and upgrade older passenger cars to Amtrak standards. Meticulously refurbished, these cars recall the era when everyone traveled by rail.

RHMA is a leader in private railroad car leasing and charter operations. RHMA can tailor a special train or charter car operation to your specific needs. We have coordinated trips for companies’ customers and employees. Some companies have chosen to sponsor the restoration of one of our passenger cars to display their corporate name and logo. We offer impeccable service in elegant surrounding as the scene outside the train constantly changes. Let Railroading Heritage of Midwest America be your gateway to the trip of a lifetime.
