Innovative Transportation Technologies main index page
The purpose of this website is to provide information about unconventional (therefore
innovative) transportation technologies. Information about conventional transportation
technologies is already quite abundant but only a few people know about the technologies
included at this website. Some of these technologies are operational, some are under development
and some are still conceptual. It is intended to be an information resource for graduate students in
the Transportation Engineering and Urban Planning programs at the University of Washington, in
Seattle, and for other interested persons around the world.

Light Rail Now!
This website is intended to support efforts both within North American and worldwide to develop and improve light rail transit (LRT) systems. We believe that presenting facts, reliable information, and well-supported arguments is the way to counteract the avalanche of misinformation and misconception about LRT to enable planners, decisionmakers, and the public to make truly informed decisions on this amazingly versatile, attractive, and cost-effective mode of transportation technology. This website is jointly sponsored by Light Rail Progress and the Texas Association for Public Transportation.

Modern Urban Rail Systems
This page has been created to fill a major void in avalailable data - that of the accurate history of modern urban heavy and
light rail systems that have been proliferating in the United States and Canada since WW2, and particularly since the opening
of the San Diego Trolley in 1981.

National Transit Database (NTD)
Federal Transit Administration (FTA) collects and disseminates data on the state of mass transportation via the National Transit Database (NTD) program. Over 600 of the nation's transportation providers submit data to the NTD annually. Both the public and private sectors use this data to assess the current state of mass transit and plan for the future.
