The cable car was born in San Francisco at four o'clock in the morning on August 2, 1873, when Andrew Smith Hallidie successfully tested the world's first cable car. Operated by the nonprofit "Friends of the Cable Car Museum" the Cable Car Museum provides not only an historical perspective of the importance of the cable car to San Francisco, but an insight into the daily operations of today's system.

Seattle, WA - Sounder Transit Railfan
A one stop Rail Fan reference for the Sounder Transit Rail System out of Seattle Washington. What started as curiosity about the interesting paint scheme Sounder used on their passenger trains has ended in a very eye opening education on the politics and bureaucracy that is involved in the creation of a Heavy Rail Passenger Commuter System. Especially for a commuter line that was designed from the start to share track time with a Class1 Freight Railroad with limited space for geographical growth.
