Bermuda Railway Trail
One of the best ways to explore Bermuda is along the Railway Trail. The last train has long since departed, leaving the route of the Bermuda’s former railroad to walkers, cyclists and horse riders.

The railway, affectionately known as ‘Old Rattle and Shake’, began its short existence in 1931 and, per mile, was the most expensive railway ever built. An economic disaster, it was closed in 1948 and the rolling stock shipped off to British Guiana.

Farmington River Trail - The FRT is an 18.2-mile loop trail which links to the FCHT at points in Farmington and Simsbury passing through the villages of Unionville and Collinsville and the towns of Burlington and Canton to create a 28.5-mile loop connecting five towns. For much of its length, the trail nestles against the banks of the Farmington River tracing the route of the old “Canal Line” railroad. Florida - Friends of the Old Seven
The remaining Florida Keys Overseas Highway and Flagler Railroad Bridges, completed in 1912 were listed on the National Registry on August 3, 2004, which includes all 23 Bridges and is an important aspect of the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail Project, bringing National recognition and prestige to our community.

The rehabilitation of the Flagler Railroad Bridges and the 2 mile segment of the old 7 Mile span to Pigeon Key, will ensure the survival of these monuments of the Florida Key's Rich Railroad and Cultural History. Rehabilitating the old 7 Mile Bridge, which is the only means of access to Historic Pigeon Key, is part of the "Community Vision" that will preserve the Historical Bridge as a part of a Scenic Multi-use Recreational Greenway that permits various forms of outdoor exercise, as well as sightseeing, fishing, kayaking, and spectacular sunsets and scenic views. The Old Seven Mile Bridge was once considered the “Eighth Wonder of the World”.
